01
Conflict check
Before the first call we ask for the name of the other side and check that we do not act for them. Usually the same working day.
02
First call, free
Twenty minutes with the solicitor who would run your matter. You hear whether we can help, what the next step is, and what it would cost.
03
Engagement letter
Within two working days: who is on your matter, what we will do, the fee in writing, and how to complain if you ever need to.
04
A dated plan
Your matter record lists each step with its date. When a step moves, you hear from us the same day, and at least every two weeks while nothing moves.

You know the fee before we start.
The first call is free. After it, you get the fee in writing, and nothing is charged that was not agreed.
20 minutes with the solicitor who would run your matter.
A fixed fee, agreed before we start.
The rate and an estimate are agreed in writing before any work.
Prices exclude VAT.
Questions we hear before the first call.
Yes. It lasts 20 minutes and you speak to the solicitor who would run your matter. If we can help, you get the fee in writing afterwards. If we cannot, we say so and, where we can, tell you who might.
It is the conflict check. We cannot advise you if we already act for the person or company you are in a dispute or negotiation with, so we check before you tell us anything confidential.
Both, and you know which before we start. Contract reviews, lease renewals, letters before claim and each stage of a tribunal claim have fixed fees. Work that cannot be scoped in advance is charged by the hour, with the rate and an estimate in your engagement letter.
The solicitor named in your engagement letter. If someone else helps, such as our trainee on a court bundle, the letter says so, and their time is charged at their own rate.
Each matter has a dated record of its steps: what has happened, what comes next and roughly when. You hear from us when a step moves, and at least every two weeks while nothing does.
No. Most of our clients are in Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire, but we act for companies across England and Wales, by phone and video. We meet in person when it helps.
